Natasha McKay achieves lifelong dream

Natasha McKay achieved her lifelong dream as she took to the ice in the Capital Indoor Arena at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The Dundee star admitted that it “wasn’t the performance I wanted to have” with an early mistake in her routine “frustrating”.

"After that I put everything into the program and the rest was clean. There's some mixed emotions, becoming an Olympian is my dream but I'd have liked to perform better,” she added.

"You have to forget about what happened and get your focus back and take it one element at a time."

Skating to Abel Korzeniowski's Song for the Little Sparrow she ended with a score of 52.54 in 28th place.

McKay - who finished 17th at the recent European Championships - needed a top 25 finish in the short program to return to the ice for the free skate.

The five-time British Champions shared her pride of being an Olympian as she spoke to the BBC after her skate. She said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of being here and will remember it forever”.

She will now return to training ahead of the World Figure Skating Championships in Montpellier, France that start on 21st March.
