Lockdown Roadmap - Stage 3 updated rules

Updated: May 14, 2021

British Ice Skating is delighted that adults will finally be able to return to the ice on May 17th.

As we announced in a joint statement with IRMA and EIHA, the Government has confirmed that England will move to the third stage of the roadmap out of lockdown.

This means that adults can return to skating in England. Whilst all skaters in England will now be able to return to the ice, some rules will remain in place to allow everyone to return safely. These measures are set to be reviewed regularly in line with government advice.

All the latest information will be shared on the British Ice Skating Covid-19 help page and social media channels.

The BIS Return to Rinks document is a complete guide on the measures that must be followed, some headline information includes:

  • All synchronized teams will be able to train as per the approved Synchro training document, contact elements must be limited to a maximum of 15 minutes per training session.

  • Combined teams of adults and children will be able to train together as per the Synchro training document.

  • Adult skaters will be able to take part in Skate UK classes.

  • Public skating can restart, with a maximum of 6 per group or 2 households.

  • Adult skaters will be able to train on patch ice.

  • All under-18 activities can continue as per the guidance released on April 12th.

It is important that these rules are adhered to so that everyone can return to a safe environment.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and dedication over the past 12 months. It is clear the passion for our sport has not been dampened and look forward to seeing you back on the ice.
